She now designs and makes mosaic for Zantium and manages the craft courses programme at Zantium Studios. This book may say it's a beginner's guidebut I would personally say that the projectsare good enough for anyone thatwants to make the mosaic designs.The book starts with the history of mosaic'sand then asks you can join by making theeight projects in the book.The book also invites you to use the techniquesto create your own mosaic's with your own designs.You learn all about the different materialsyou can use and the tools you will need.You will need a number of tools before you canstart making mosaic's but once you have thetools you can then use them on all of yourprojects.Each projects is broken down into steps.Each of these steps include a pictureto show you what you should be doing.The instructions and the pictures are clearand easy to understand.There are little notes throughout the bookwhich can help you on each of the projects.The projects are ideal to make for yourselfor to make as presents for family or friends.The projects are;Aztec Mirror FrameKilim TableSeahorse PanelOrange Tree DishJewelled ClockCrazy Plant PotPepper TileFancy Fish Panel.The colours used are ideal for each of the projectsbut you can always amend them to your owntastes or decor.At the start of each project you have a fulllist of all the materials you will need.They also include notes where you mightbe able to get some of the materials easier.I will be making a number of the projectsfrom the book, infact I really likeall of the projects.An ideal book for a beginnerbut also good for someone who wantshelp making beautiful mosaics.I received this book to review.However all opinions expressed are my own.No monies were exchanged.

If you know nothing about creating mosaics and would just like to dip your toe in the water, this is the book for you. It explains the major construction techniques and walks you through 8 very simple projects. It's a book to start with if you are intimidated by larger, more complicated texts or you don't feel you'll want to strive beyond the easiest, most basic mosaic building techniques (for instance, this would be a good book for middle schoolers or to walk a child through a mosaic project). I'd give it five stars except for my belief that it will be too basic for most readers who will quickly want to ventrue beyond this book's limits...so why not invest a few more dollars and pick up a more comprehensive book that will meet your needs for hundreds of projects to come?

Clear directions. Purchased this because I liked the copy from the public library so much.

We are very pleased with the patterns in the book. We're using it to plan our next two projects. For two rank beginners it' a big help!

This is a very clear book with clear instructions for beginning mosaicists. Projects are beautiful and very inviting, more complex than a beginner might expect. (Look at fish on the cover, with wavy background lines). My only complaint is that they tend to be very large - wall panels rather than trays.

Very happy with this purchase. It is really helpful and easy to understand. The project ideas are great. And particularly i like list of supplies to get for the projects. It is very helpful.

Very nice book I'll have to find the time to make some of the mosaic's.

Gives you everything you need to know/purchase to start your first mosaic projects. Instructions are clear and photographs make understanding the necessary tools and techniques very helpful.
