As a Certified Patent Valuation Analyst and a Certified Public Accountant with extensive experience, I have read a lot of books on business valuation and specifically intellectual property valuation, and for me this book is one of the best books on intellectual property valuation. I have used this book as a reference source in my patent valuations. At almost 900 pages this book provides an in-depth treatment of valuing intellectual property using cost, market, and income approaches as well as accounting and tax issues. It provides extensive discussions of court cases. It also provides an excellent chapter on valuing early-stage technology. It provides extensive coverage of licensing agreements including royalty rate determination and monitoring and auditing licensing agreements. It also has an excellent coverage of infringement damages. The book is regularly updated with a cumulative supplement. I highly recommend this book for a serious professional working in intellectual property valuation, licensing, and damages calculations.
I highly recommend this cumulative supplement as an accompaniment to Intellectual Property by the same author. I also recommend this book as a stand-alone even without purchasing the book to which it is a supplement. The cumulative supplement provides very valuable current information on the intellectual property landscape and dealing with risk and uncertainty in intellectual property valuation and licensing. It also contains new sections on royalty rates and license fees for technology and for pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. As a Certified Patent Valuation Analyst and a Certified Public Accountant practicing in valuation and royalty audit, I particularly like the new sections on the magnitude and meaning of royalty misreporting and intellectual property audit and management.
This book is probably excellent for the trained accountant or attorney. I am a lay person, and although I found many useful pieces of information, much of the information was over my head.
Fast shipment, this used book is no different to the new one, the content is also very impressive and informative, I have a feeling that this will be of great value to professional in IP businesses especially those from China:-)
